Jim Bertles

Jim is a Managing Director and a member of the Executive Committee for the U.S. Wealth Management business. As US Head of Wealth Planning, Jim leads a team of experienced wealth planning professionals who work closely with clients and their advisors to help develop trust, tax and estate planning solutions.

Jim has over 40 years of experience in the legal and financial services fields. Prior to the transaction that created AlTi, Jim worked at the predecessor firm Tiedemann Advisors for 14 years as a Managing Director and Head of Business Development Strategy. Earlier in his career, Jim was President and Chief Operating Officer of Brown Brothers Harriman Trust Company responsible for all trust, fiduciary and tax activities in the United States, and practiced law for 20 years in Connecticut, New York and Florida with the firms of Cummings & Lockwood (Associate), Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft (Partner and member of the Firm’s Management Committee), and Gunster Yoakley (Partner).

Jim holds a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Amherst College.

Jim is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is board-certified by the Florida Bar in Wills, Trusts and Estates. He is actively involved in the Palm Beach community, most recently having served in several senior positions at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church.
